New Book for Low Beginner (CLB 1) !

The newest book, Callan's Canadian Holidays for Low Beginner ESL, just hit the site! 

Unlike all other Callan's books, this one is not a jigsaw book. It fills the need for a holidays book that can work with CLB 1 absolute beginners. 

In addition to higher levels, I also teach absolute beginners myself, with benchmarks in the 0 0 1 1 range, and I can vouch that that level can comfortably handle this book. The book has also been thoroughly field tested by other Benchmark 1 teachers. Lessons were found, on average, to take 2 hours, but could be broken up over two days. 

Some other ESL holidays books contain interesting in depth historical information about holidays. This book does not aim to impart to ESL students more knowledge about Canadian holidays than the average Canadian who grew up in Canada knows. Readings are limited to basic information that is common knowledge. And all readings are accompanied by clear illustrations to aid vocabulary comprehension. 

Exercises in the book focus on such things as plurals, capitalization, third person singular, short answers with "be", "do" and "can" and imperatives.

An audio CD will also be available for the listening clozes in the book.
